Introducing Red Bird Mental Health

Our Story & Commitment

About Red Bird

“If nothing changes, nothing changes. If you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to keep getting what you're getting. You want change, make some.” ~ Courtney Stevens

How Red Bird Mental Health Started:

In 2014, my family and I experienced the immense loss of our daughter, Natalie.  Since then, my family has associated Natalie with cardinals, or “red birds” as my two-year-old son would say. Red Bird Mental Health was founded in her honor, and I believe that she is a part of the healing and recovery that takes place every day in our agency.

More personally, losing Natalie started my own recovery; mentally, physically, and spiritually.  As I tried to make sense of my grief and recovery, my eyes were opened to many alternative ways of working with and thinking about mental health.  I incorporated talk and body-based therapy, movement, exercise, meditation, acupuncture, and Reiki.  My goal is to eventually be able to provide a place of healing that integrates these areas.  I want everyone to have access to whatever resources they need to facilitate their own healing.

Therapy at Red Bird Mental Health:

Alright, so what is therapy really? Talk therapy isn’t just sitting in a room and chatting with someone for an hour.  Mental Health Therapy uses specialized and well-researched modalities and interventions.  Our therapists have trained in a number of different types of therapies for the treatment of anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, sexuality, and a whole bunch of different things.  We use Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Body-based, and Art Therapy in order to help our clients facilitate recovery.  Each one of the therapists has their own interests and areas of expertise so that we can match you to the person we think will help you the most.

Our Experience

RBMH’s therapists are a group of highly trained therapists who each bring unique specialties to the agency.  From creative art therapies, like art and music, to empirically supported therapy, such as mindfulness or trauma therapies, our therapists work hard to provide you with the service you need to heal and recover.  We are always learning and growing as therapists and are committed to bringing state-of-the-art mental health care to Northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond. We work with many local agencies and providers to provide consultation and training services as well.
