Hi! I’m Wes Talarico and I am a therapist at Red Bird Mental Health. I am a recent graduate of Marywood University’s art therapy program. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.
Professional Background:
I have experience working with autistic individuals of all ages in a variety of contexts. During my graduate program, my internship placements included an outpatient community mental health setting, a dual inpatient/ outpatient drug and alcohol facility, and RBMH. I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and a Registered Art Therapist (Provisional).
Therapeutic Approach:
I believe that expressing oneself creatively can lead to healing and self-discovery. I also believe that one of everyone’s primary motivations is to give life meaning. I use a strengths-based and client-centered approach to support individuals in using creativity to identify what that meaning might be.
Client Population:
I work with both children and adults to address challenges such as anxiety, mood disorders, and religious trauma. I also work with members of the LGBTQ+ community and individuals with autism. I love to work with those open to using creativity in the therapy process.
A Little About Me:
Outside of RBMH, I enjoy spending time with my cats, baking sourdough bread, playing video games, and making abstract drawings and paintings. I love spending time in nature as well. I’m honored to be a supporter in your life, in all its ups and downs.
