Hi! I’m Wes Talarico and I am a practicum student at Red Bird Mental Health. I am currently a graduate student at Marywood University’s art therapy program and am set to graduate in August of 2025. I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern New Hampshire University.
Professional Background:
At my previous counseling/ art therapy internships, I worked in both an outpatient community setting and a dual inpatient/ outpatient drug and alcohol facility. Additionally, I have worked with autistic children, teens, and adults since 2018 in many capacities; currently outside of RBMH, I work as a case supervisor with autistic adults in a community setting.
Therapeutic Approach:
As an art therapy student, I believe that expressing oneself creatively can lead to healing and self-discovery. I also believe that one of everyone’s primary motivations is to give life meaning. I use a strengths-based and client-centered approach to support individuals in using creativity to identify what that meaning might be.
Client Population:
I work with both children and adults to address challenges such as anxiety, mood disorders, and religious trauma. I also work with members of the LGBTQ+ community and individuals with autism.
Philosophy:
Outside of RBMH, I enjoy spending time with my cats, baking sourdough bread, playing video games, and making abstract drawings and paintings. I love spending time in nature as well.
A Little About Me:
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my daughter, family, and friends; volunteering in my community; being outside; and vacationing at the beach. I look forward to supporting you on your journey toward healing. I’m honored to be a supporter in your life, in all its ups and downs.
