Evelyn Hosey, MS

Hello! I’m Evelyn Hosey, and I am a mental health counselor at Red Bird Mental Health. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State University and my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Scranton.

My clinical experience includes working in outpatient mental health and substance use treatment settings, where I have supported adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds. I have always been drawn to helping people recognize their strengths, navigate challenges, and build lives that feel meaningful and authentic to them. I am passionate about helping clients develop resilience, strengthen self-advocacy, and create lasting, positive change.

I have experience working with substance use, anxiety, depression, and life transitions, and I particularly enjoy supporting clients as they navigate periods of growth, uncertainty, and self-discovery.

Therapeutic Approach:

My approach to counseling is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that therapy works best when clients feel genuinely accepted and supported, so I strive to create a space where you can show up as yourself without fear of judgment. I view counseling as a partnership, and I work alongside clients to explore challenges, build on existing strengths, and move toward the goals that matter most to them.

I also draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), parts work, mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed care while tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs and experiences. I also enjoy incorporating creativity into the therapeutic process when it feels helpful, whether that means exploring ideas through art, play, storytelling, or other creative outlets.

I value authenticity and believe that healing often begins through genuine human connection. Whether you are navigating a difficult season of life, working through emotional challenges, or seeking personal growth, I am committed to meeting you where you are and supporting you throughout your journey.

Client Population:

I particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate identity development, relationships, academic or career stress, life transitions, and mental health concerns. I also welcome adults seeking support for a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges.

A Little About Me:

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cuddling my dogs, caring for my houseplants, crocheting, exploring creative hobbies, and finding new things to learn. I’m also a fan of anime (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is my favorite!), video games, and artistic self-expression. These interests help keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of creativity, balance, and making space for the things that bring us joy.
