Hi! My name is Ty, and I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Pennsylvania with a Master of Social Work (MSW) and experience in child welfare and family-based mental health services. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, with a particular passion for supporting children who have experienced trauma and individuals who have been involved in the child welfare system.
Therapeutic Approach:
My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and change, and that therapy should be a space where people feel safe, supported, heard, and understood. I strive to meet each client where they are, recognizing that everyone’s experiences and needs are unique. By drawing from different therapeutic approaches, I work alongside clients to develop meaningful goals, build on their strengths, and develop tools to navigate life’s challenges. When working with children, I value the importance of building a strong partnership with caregivers, recognizing that children and caregivers are a team. I believe that trust, respect, and compassion are essential to creating a therapeutic relationship where clients feel comfortable being themselves and exploring opportunities for growth.
Why I Do This Work:
My passion for this work is rooted in my own life experiences and the lasting impact one social worker had on me during my childhood. That experience instilled in me the belief that one positive person can truly change a life, and it continues to inspire the care and dedication I bring to my work today. I want my clients to recognize that they are more than their diagnoses, their circumstances, or the challenges they have faced. My hope is to help each person recognize their own strengths, feel empowered to navigate difficulties, and discover possibilities within themselves that they may not yet see.
A Little About Me:
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children, traveling with my partner, connecting with family and friends, and immersing myself in nature. I especially love being near the water, whether it’s an ocean, river, or another peaceful spot outdoors. I also enjoy reading, listening to audiobooks, and learning new things. One fun fact about me is that I am completely obsessed with hermit crabs! I have four at home and love learning everything I can about their care and well-being.
