Hi! I’m Katlyn, a Therapist here at Red Bird Mental Health.
Professional Background:
I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. My experience spans a variety of settings, including outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs, and inpatient crisis stabilization with children and adolescents. I am a Licensed Clincial Social Worker and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
My specialized training in trauma-informed therapy is complemented by ongoing training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), with plans to achieve certification in both in the future.
Therapeutic Approach:
My approach is rooted in evidence-based modalities like Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Humanistic Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I incorporate creativity into sessions using music, writing, and art, while also emphasizing the mind-body connection through somatic practices like breathwork and movement.
I believe in a strengths-based, humanistic perspective, meeting each client where they are and helping them uncover their inner resilience and potential.
Client Population:
I specialize in working with preteens, teens, and young adults but welcome clients ranging from children to young adults. My areas of focus include trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, mood disorders, adjustment challenges, and neurodivergence such as ADHD, a realm where I bring both professional and lived experience.
Philosophy:
I believe everyone is capable of meaningful, lasting change and that healing is a right, not a privilege. My goal is to create a warm, supportive, and collaborative space where my clients feel safe, heard, and respected. Together, we’ll work to foster resilience, empower growth, and rewrite the stories that shape your life.
A Little About Me:
When I’m not working, you can usually find me lost in a good book—whether it’s historical fiction, romance, or a thrilling mystery. I also love creative writing, traveling, and going to concerts. My favorite things include Broadway musicals, Halloween, Disney, and exploring Renaissance Faires. For self-care, I enjoy listening to podcasts, indulging in fancy coffee, and spending time on the beach—ideally all at once!
